The studio, for me, is a place where materials, are placed, transformed, sensed and mapped as a way of thinking. My interest lies in giving form to emotional and physical presences of place with reference to rural and anthropological collections and practices.
Forever inspired by folklore and rural traditions, I am looking to evoke a bodily response that is so often found in the poetic curation of museum collections with myriad strange and magical objects.
I work intuitively, handling materials with a slow repetitive rhythm, taking time to notice associations, whether physical or social that manifest through simple acts of making. Over time, the accumulation of assemblages, marks and objects create their own sense of presence and it is the careful selection and placement of these things that becomes the completed artwork.
