Dorothy Tucker

Dorothy Tucker’s research into the design and making of Kantha informs her current work. Kantha is form of embroidered quilt particular to Bengal. Following this tradition she patches and pieces together layers of old worn cloth and then “draws” pictures with travelling lines of running stitch.


TEXTILE PRACTICE
She tutors workshops for a variety of groups. These are multi media and creative in approach and introduce free style hand stitching to express ideas for contemporary textiles. With Shared Heritage she devises textile based projects for community groups in London.
She exhibits with PRISM and the Textile Study Group.
