Anne Jones

Anne’s work responds to the constancy of social injustice and conflict throughout human history. She develops narrative through material and process experimentation whilst introducing traditional hand stitch techniques into contemporary contexts.

Exploring subjects through allusion, metaphor and allegory, the materials and processes used become deeply meaningful. Lead has become an important element in recent works as an allegory for the passing of geological time, etc. It conveys a sombreness evocative of its subject, and its industrial quality alludes to the industrialised nature of modern warfare. In this way, each final work presents the sum of many layered meanings.
