Ruth Issett

Ruth's work continues to reference her fascination for utilizing colour using a variety of media. Working with Procion Mx Dyes she paints directly onto fabric surfaces as well as immersing fabrics of different fibres into numerous containers of dye. Ruth will also use a variety of print techniques both on fabric and paper adding layers of transparent colour to alter and build the colour intensity. Working with a variety of opaque media Ruth will explore further the effects of transparent fabrics or paint finishes by the layering of different materials.
This research underpins Ruth’s stitched and printed pieces using a variety of themes. She hopes this helps her to understand how and why she chooses to select certain colours when she is working.
