Jennifer Hollingdale

In her work Jennifer is examining the old fashion virtues of thrift and domestic economy. She takes used materials with all their associations of long usage, often decayed or damaged and re-forms them for re-use. Included are household linens, bedding, wall paper, sections of clothing,
packaging, found objects and screen printed images from her collection of vintage sewing notions. This often creates a trompe d’oeil effect, real or not.

TEXTILE PRACTICE
Jennifer originally studied Fine Art and Mathematics and her work is often based on a grid, using simple tessellated shapes. In construction her quilts are traditional, a machine pieced top, batting and backing quilted together but the concepts are not. Layers are built up, and stitched within the layers you will discover screen printed images and found objects.
