Wendy Creak

Wendy employs digital imagery, fabric, print and heat processes to explore the ambiguity of perception. Elements of photographic imagery are abstracted out, rotated, distorted and combined on translucent and structured surfaces to create an element of disorientation and uncertainty. They vary with changing light or angle of viewing, or shift almost imperceptibly with natural air currents, altering the relationship between elements of the work and creating dimension or visual disturbance.

Wendy incorporates dye-painting, manipulated photographic imagery, digital and screen-printing into her work. Dimension, texture and movement are created with heat processes, layered imagery, and hand or machine stitching to exploit the individual fabric qualities, resulting in altered surfaces, fragmented imagery and script, and structural forms.
