“Established in 1999 by the late Julia Caprara, 2010 marks a point of transition as Prism establishes itself as an independent exhibiting group, retaining a focus on showcasing high quality fine art textile practice and craftsmanship.”
It is our aim to bring to the public work of the highest quality both to highlight the breadth textile practice can expand to, but also to challenge notions of the textile as simply decorative and domestic.
evolve : evoke : expand was chosen as the title for this year’s exhibition to mark this transition and it has been taken up by exhibitors in a variety of ways. Alongside innovation and technologically challenging works there are equally compelling works referencing tradition and traditional techniques.
